Video Transcript for the Hawaiʻi Compliance Express Video
Instead of obtaining individual clearances from each department, the Hawaiʻi Compliance Express Service combines them all to one certificate.
To get started, you will need your FEIN, Hawaiʻi Tax ID, UI ID (if applicable), and a valid credit card.
Go to vendors.ehawaii.gov.
Log in to your eHawaii.gov Account.
You can create one if needed.
Start a new registration.
Accept the terms and conditions.
If you're a cooperation or LLC enter your FEIN.
If you're a sole proprietor or single member enter your SSN.
Be sure to include the dashes.
Enter your GE tax number.
The number will begin with a W.
If you do not know your number you can search for it.
If you have employees that reside in Hawaiʻi enter your UI number.
If you have no employees or employees that live outside Hawaiʻi leave blank.
Indicate whether you are registered with the DCCA.
Some businesses are exempt from this registration.
You can check here to see if you need to be registered or you can call the DCCA directly at 808-586-2727.
Now you need to search for your business.
Select your company name when you see it.
If your name appears twice, choose the one with the most information.
Choose the organization type if it's not already selected.
If you are a sole proprietor choose individual.
Only enter your spouse's name if they are on your GE license.
Only fill in a trade name if it is different from your company name.
Fill in the taxing authority section if you have someone else who speaks on your behalf to the Department of Tax or IRS.
Otherwise, leave blank.
You must have a contact name in case there are questions regarding your application.
You will choose 'Bid/Entering into a Contract' unless you want to get paid one time only.
Only fill in name and phone if you choose 'Final Payment.'
Accounting period refers to the dates at which you pay your IRS taxes.
If you pay from Jan 1st through Dec 31st then choose calendar year.
Otherwise choose fiscal year.
You must answer yes to number 10 to continue.
This is your last chance to review and make changes before you submit your application.
You must certify that you have the authority to submit the form.
The person's name that you type here must fit a title from the drop down menu.
Choose your payment method.
Enter the billing information associated with your credit card.
Confirm your information is correct and pay now.
Print your receipt then continue.
Download the form eighty eight twenty-one.
Print the form and sign at the bottom.
Fax or mail the signed form to the IRS.
Your application is complete. Continue to see your account status.
All departments must be compliant for your account to be compliant.
The system will send you email notifications as your compliance changes.
It takes 5 to 14 business days for the compliance review process.
Once your account is compliant you can print your vendor compliance certificate.
To maintain your compliance you must renew annually.
If your account is still not compliant after the initial 5 to 14 business days, then you must contact the department you are not compliant with.
