Planning & Preparing for Disaster
During hurricane season, June – November, having a disaster emergency response plan for yourself, as well as your family and pets, is important.
Many disasters like earthquakes, locally generated tsunamis, and others will leave you with very little time to react. Know what resources are available to you beforehand, and develop a plan to ensure that all of your family members know what to do and are accounted for.
- Locate your nearest emergency shelter (PDF).
- Visit the Hawai‘i State Civil Defense website to view a tsunami evacuation mapping tool.
- Visit ready.gov for information on what to include inside of your disaster preparedness kit and for ideas to create a family disaster emergency response plan.
